Delete your Travoa account
You can delete your Travoa account and the personal data linked to it at any time. You can do it yourself in the app, or ask us by email. Travoa is developed by {{LEGAL_ENTITY_NAME}}.
Delete it in the app
- Open Travoa and sign in.
- Tap the Account tab.
- Scroll down and tap Delete account.
- Read the summary, then tap Delete account to confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. If something needs settling first (see Before you delete), the app tells you what.
No longer have the app? Ask us by email
Send an email from the institution email address you used to sign in to Travoa:
{{CONTACT_EMAIL}}- Use the subject line “Delete my Travoa account”.
- If you can’t write from that address, for example because you have left your institution, tell us the address you used. We will send it a code to confirm the account is yours.
- We will confirm when your account is deleted. We aim to do this within 7 days, and always within 30 days.
Before you delete
Some things involve another person or money owed, so they must be settled before the account can go:
- An open ride request, or a ride that hasn’t finished. Finish or cancel it first.
- A completed ride that hasn’t been paid for, as a rider or as a driver. Pay the driver, or, if you drove, confirm the payment you received.
- Platform fees owed (a driver wallet below zero). Top up your wallet to settle them.
- Money in your driver wallet (a balance above zero). Contact us and we will refund it to you.
What is deleted
- Your profile: name, institution email address, mobile number, institution, role and verification status, and the record of the terms you accepted.
- Your profile photo, and any college or staff ID image you uploaded in an earlier version of the app.
- Your vehicles and their driving licence and RC photos.
- Your ride offers, including the last saved location from a trip.
- Your saved places, your UPI ID and your list of blocked members.
- Chat messages you sent.
- Your driver wallet (its balance must be zero first).
- Your push notification token, any crash reports not yet sent from your phone, and your sign-in account.
What is kept, and for how long
- Rides you shared with someone else. A ride is also part of the other person’s trip history, so the ride record is kept. Your name and profile are removed from it, and the app shows you to them as “Unknown”. The record still contains the pickup and drop-off points (reduced to an accuracy of about 100 m, and their address texts deleted, once the ride is a year old), times, distance, fare, payment status, and any rating or comment left for that trip. We keep these records without your identity for the other person’s history, safety investigations, disputes and accounting.
- Payment and wallet records (platform fees, top-ups, refunds and the rides they relate to) are kept for 8 years, because Indian tax and accounting law requires it. Your identity is removed from them.
- Messages the other person sent you in a ride’s chat stay in their copy of that ride until they are deleted, 90 days after the ride ended.
- Safety reports you made, or that were made about you, are kept while needed to keep members safe, with your identity removed.
- If your account was suspended, we keep a one-way code (a hash) of your email address so the suspension can’t be avoided by signing up again. We delete it if the suspension is lifted.
- Crash reports already sent to Firebase Crashlytics are deleted by Crashlytics after 90 days.
- Backups and server logs may hold copies of your data for up to 30 days, until they are overwritten.
- Payment records held by Razorpay, our payment processor for wallet top-ups, are kept by Razorpay for as long as financial regulations require.
- Records we must keep by law, or that are needed for an open safety investigation or legal claim, are kept only for as long as that requires.
Delete some data without closing your account
In the app’s Account tab you can change or remove your photo, phone number, saved places, vehicle and UPI ID, and you can turn off crash reports on the Help screen. To have other specific data deleted, email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}} and tell us what you would like removed. This could be an old ID image or a ride’s chat, for example.
